"I am totally opposed to political parties in local government," she said.
"I would never apply to be pre-selected on a Liberal Party ticket."
She said she would attend the Wednesday, October 9, Liberal Party party meeting, which was called to vote on running a ticket.
Cr Gash is a member of the Liberal Party, and campaigned for Nationals candidate Katrina Hodgkinson at the last federal election.
She said there was a difference between being a member of a political party, and being on the ticket of a party in the election.
"It doesn't matter which party you're in [if you're on a ticket] you're bound to vote the way the party directs," she said.
"Standing as yourself allows you the freedom to represent the views of the community. You've got to be independent."
