These days, the routine has become a favourite for spontaneous gatherings of people wanting to relive Cathy's haunting of poor old Heathcliff in a collective expression of dance.
A group of committed "Kates" has been rehearsing for just such an event as part of the Shoalhaven River Festival, coming up on Saturday, October 26.
And more Kates are being sought. All you need is a red dress, a black wig and a sense of fun - all ages and genders are welcome and you can come along to some rehearsals to perfect those moves and facial expressions prior to the day.
The 2019 Shoalhaven River Festival will once again showcase the great variety of dance talent we have right here in our local area.
Dance program co-ordinator Robin Sharpe said the program this year will include displays of jazz, Balkan, Hawaiian and Latin dancing as well as performances by local dance students.
There'll also be opportunities for audience involvement with a toddler movement session and an easy to follow bush dance.
"We would love to host displays by as many of our local groups as possible," Ms Sharpe said. "If you or your group would like to be involved, please get in touch!"
