The National Police Remembrance Day is held yearly on September 29 in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and the Solomon Islands.
It's a day to remember police who lost their lives in duty as well as police officers who lost their lives through illness or other circumstances.
Over the past year three police officers lost their lives while performing their duties, including one NSW officer Constable Timothy David Proctor.
There were also two historical additions of NSW officers to the National Police Memorial, Senior Constable Francis Drum, 1992 and Senior Constable Colin James Young, 2016.
In the region services were also held at the Nan Tien Temple near Wollongong, in Goulbourne and Bega.
