Sims will retire at the completion of the Sydney Roosters' 2019 campaign, with the 37-year-old saying she had been contemplating bringing down the curtain on her illustrious career for some time.
"This is something I have been thinking about for a while now, and I know it's the right time," Sims said tot he Roosters.
"The women's game has come along in strides since I first started playing, and despite having to make some hard choices in my life to get me where I am, I am proud that I was part of that journey.

"Over the years, I have been privileged and blessed to represent not only at club level, but also my state and country, and I will always be extremely proud to say that I made my debut with the Sydney Roosters in the founding year of the NRLW competition.
"I would like to extend a huge thanks to all my coaches and teammates over the years.
"Rugby league has given me some of my greatest memories - it's the ultimate game of mateship and I am grateful for the friendships I have made along the way.
""I love rugby league and feel fortunate to have the opportunity to stay involved in the game - I'm definitely looking forward to this next chapter."
After making her Australian debut at the 2013 World Cup, the prop forward played 12 Tests for the Jillaroos.
She co-captained Australia to its 2017 World Cup win as well skippering New South Wales to a State of Origin win - on top of appearances for both the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, the NRL All Stars and New South Wales Country

Sims, the sister of Ashton, Tariq, Korbin and CJ, and her Roosters are still chasing their first win in this season's NRLW competition, after losing to New Zealand (16-12) and Brisbane (20-nil).
But if they beat St George Illawarra by 18 points or more at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday, and if Brisbane beat the Warriors, then they will advance to their second successive NRLW final.
