They have partnered with the Shoalhaven Defence Industry Group and Regional Development Australia South Coast to connect students to STEM career opportunities, via a paper plane competition.
"The idea is to get students excited about aerospace and about competing with each other," organiser Phil Guy, of Global Defence Systems, said.
"STEM subjects are important across so many different industries, but kids don't often enjoy maths in highschool."
Mr Guy said a big part of the push was showing students they could have careers in STEM without leaving the Shoalhaven.
"There is so much happening here beyond tourism and farming," he said.
"We'd like them to realise there's careers in engineering, manufacturing, that include international travel, and they get to stay in the Shoalhaven."
The initiative was launched at the Show Society's annual teacher's afternoon tea on Tuesday, September 24.
