The Ulladulla Boardrider opened her September 21-13 event with a win in her 14 and under girls quarter-final - posting an 11.34, which easily eclipsed the scores of Madison Davidson (6.43), Sarsha Pancic (5.53) and Elise Franzose (5.50).
The St Johns student then carried this form into her semi-final, which she again won.
Buckpitt's score of 10.87 saw her edge out Mia Huppatz (10.70), Werri Beach's Holly Wishart (10.40) and Emily McGettigan (7.90) - to progress to the final.
In the windy conditions during the decider, Buckpitt could only muster waves 4.77, 4.47, 4.10, 3.73 and 1.90 - for a best two-wave score of 9.24.
This saw her finish third behind Christchurch's Ava Henderson (14.83) and Jan Juc's Mia Huppatz (12.10) and ahead of Shell Cove's Oceanna Rogers (7.90).
Also at the same event, fellow Ulladula Boardrider Koby Jackson reached the quarter-finals of he 12 and under boys event.- which was won by Matraville's Jake Feher.
The other four categories were won by Coolangatta's Marlon Harrison, Lennox Head's Nyxie Ryan (16 and under girls), Currumbin's Matt Boyle (14 and under boys) and Tweed Heads' Quincy Symonds (12 and under girls).
