They got one thing right
Recently a house caught fire in Lachlan Crescent, St Georges Basin adjacent to my property. I was first on the scene and called Triple-0 for the fire brigade. While waiting, I played a garden hose on the blaze but the fire was beyond my efforts. I then removed my mobile phone away from danger then continued to use my hose to protect my own property.

The scene was attended by several brigades, police and Ambulance Service. After being in the smoke zone from this ifre, I realised I had inhaled a lot of smoke abd decided to visit the ambulance for some relief. After a blood test and physical examination, I continued caring for my home.
To my surprise, I received an account from the NSW Ambulance for an amount of $484.04. This fee was quickly waived once I quoted my Aged Pension number, so the amount would be paid by the Australian Government.
The reason for my letter at this time is to draw attention to the fact this high cost service, particularly the many calls by our pensioners who frequently need this service, comes at no cost to welfare recipients. For all the brickbats against our government, this is one aspect they get right.

We'll decide what's best
Last Saturday 70 locals got together in the library, Graham Connolly gave a welcome to nation and we got started with our business, you see some "consultant" I think from up on the Gold Coast, wants to build this you beaut bitumen four lane clearway around Nowra, that's our village. They said they have got some good ones up there and it would be best if we had one to.
Then right up on top of our beautiful river these other consultants from Macquarie Street are building this huge concrete car park four storeys high, because they said that's where you get the best view and all we agreed on that, the view is beautiful.
Now these blokes want to get rid of the rest of the trees and our park, that's the one our school kids have played in over the last 170 years, and then they think it's best if they get rid of our pre-school too.
So up there on the river they want to build another 10 big concrete buildings to match the car park, and they'll need a place right on top where they can land their helicopters, and then they might be happy for a little while.
Somebody asks who are these people? And we all said "I dunno" you see we were all a bit confused, all we knew is that they want us to pay for it all and on top of that there would be their fee because they are advising us.
And then Graham said "But this is my country" and "That is my tree" and you know, I think that sums up our problem.
Maybe it would be better if we just tell them they're dreaming and if we just have a bit of time to sort this out and we'll decide what is best for our village.

Children misinformed
So much misinformation fed to not only our children but adults who should know better. Our oxygen replenishment is achieved with diathoms in our oceans not bloody trees.
Aircraft are the second biggest contribution to the co2 level so if you're serious stop all air travel. Fort Denison shows no rapid increase in sea levels ... look it up.

Proud of our youth
Every adult who attended this strike was blown away by the clarity, courage and focus of the young people who spoke. They understand the future that is possible for them and they choose to take positive action on behalf of themselves and all living creatures. Such generosity, such nobility is equal to anything that previous generations have achieved.
I am proud of these young people. May they be successful in this campaign to stop global warming.
