The East Gippsland region, which has been struggling with record low rainfall, will be on fire restrictions from September 23, following fires earlier this year which saw dozens of homes destroyed.
"We've issued fire restrictions for only the second time so early in the season because of the dryness," Emergency Services Minister Lisa Neville said on Wednesday.
