Kalin Stewart, 23, appeared in Nowra Local Court on Monday, September 16 charged with firing a firearm in a public place and possessing a shortened firearm.

It is alleged Stewart fired a number of shots from a shortened Boito 410 shotgun outside a property in Douglas Street, Nowra around 8.20pm on July 21.

Police stopped a white Ford Territory in Elizabeth Avenue, Nowra about 8.30pm on July 21, with a passenger, police say was Stewart, fled on foot.

Police gave chase and, with the help of the dog unit, located Stewart, who was wanted at the time on outstanding warrants for an alleged carjacking at Gerringong while armed with a knife, hiding under another nearby home.

A police search found him in possession of three shotgun rounds.

Following inquiries, detectives attached to South Coast Police District linked him to an altercation outside a unit on Douglas Street, where a number of shots were allegedly fired.

Stewart also faces a charge of robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

Court papers said Stewart allegedly held up a woman with a serrated knife around 5pm on June 24 before making off in her blue Mitsubishi sedan.

Police said he also allegedly stole with the woman's Apple iPhone, a wallet containing identification, cards and $18 cash.

He did not apply for bail before registrar Alanna Kill in Nowra Local Court on Monday, which was formally refused.

The matter will be back in court in November.
