Reserve grade
Preliminary finals day just would not be the same without a bit of extra time drama - enter Shoalhaven United and St Georges Basin in the reserve grade contest yesterday (Saturday, September 14).
The score was locked at 1-all at fulltime and the teams had to slug it out in extra time.
The fans got behind their teams and the players, even though their tanks were on empty, pushed on.
The Bears, thanks to a Shane Button goal early in extra time, recorded a 2-1 win.
United will now play Vincentia/Huskisson in the reserve grade grand final on Saturday, September 21.
Basin looked good early on in the piece, particularly after Jordan Reid's goal at the 23-minute mark.
United, however, levelled the score at 1-all when Ryan Rigg found the back of the net after 32 minutes of play.
Neither side, despite their best efforts, could score a vital goal to break the deadlock and avoid extra time.
