The Page Avenue home at North Nowra has been completely destroyed in this afternoon's fire.
Fire and Rescue Shoalhaven Station Officer Paul Doswell said when crews arrived around 3.30pm the house was well alight with flames through the roof.
"Ten firefighters using breathing apparatus worked to extinguish the blaze," he said.
"It was a very fierce fire. Flames were through the roof and the building suffered internal structural collapse."
He said it took firefighters around an hour and a half to fully extinguish the blaze.
"The house has been completely destroyed," he said.
"There were five people in the home at the time of the fire and thankfully they all managed to get out.
"One man suffered burns to his legs and was transported to hospital."
Fire crews have now left the scene which has been handed over to police who are investigating.
Police remain at the scene.
North Nowra House Fire: Injured man transferred to Wollongong Hospital
Update: 4.40pm
The man injured in the North Nowra house fire has suffered burns to his leg.
NSW Ambulance Shoalhaven District Inspector Faye Stockman said the man suffered burns to the back of his calf.
"He is in a stable condition," she said.
"He will be transported to Wollongong Hospital."
Ms Stockman confirmed the man's family, his wife and three daughters were also in the home at the time of the fire.
"They all managed to get out okay," she said.

Man injured in North Nowra house fire
ONE man has been injured in a house fire at North Nowra.
Emergency services were called to the home in Page Avenue around 3.30pm Thursday, September 12.
Fire and Rescue NSW Shoalhaven and two appliances from Nowra, Rural Fire Service crews from West Nowra, Shoalhaven Heads and Cambewarra along with NSW Police and NSW Ambulance are on the scene.
Large black smoke billowed from the property, just east of North Nowra Public School.
It is understood five people were in the house at the time the fire was noticed and all managed to escape the dwelling.
NSW Ambulance paramedics are treating a male who it is understood has suffered minor burn injuries to his legs and hands.
He's being transported to Shoalhaven District Hospital.
Emergency services have cordoned off the area.

Endeavour Energy crews has been called to the area to secure power supplies, with reports of live powerlines down.
