Eyesight is something most of us take for granted.
Getting a pair of glasses can change your life.
The Nowra Lions Club in conjunction with Stockland's Nowra Specsavers' store are doing their bit to help communities overseas access glasses for free.
Through the Lions' Recycle for Sight program hundreds of pairs of glasses have been collected locally to be recycled, repaired or updated to be sent to various charities around the world.
The initiative sends used pairs of glasses to disadvantaged areas, where communities can access them for free.
Margaret Bryatt, who has volunteered at the Lions Club for nearly 40 years, said it doesn't matter if old glasses are broken, snapped in half, or have a lens missing.
"All pairs that are donated are sent to the Lions Recycle for Sight facility in Queensland, where they are repaired and given quality tests," she said.
"They [glasses] go overseas and around Australia for whoever needs them and can't afford them.
"The optometrist marks what type they are, and if they need a certain one, [recipients] can get them, if they are in stock."

Specsavers Nowra Stockland co-owner, Paul Gillen urged the community to clear out their drawers of old glasses.
"Put them to a good use, donate them to this cause," he said.
Nowra Lions' president Sharanne Witt said awareness about the program needed to be raised, so people know where to donate their old glasses.
"I know I cleaned my garage up the other day and had 12 pairs of glasses," she said.
"I've got them all in a bag, and ready to drop in.
"And how many people go through their top drawer and find their old pairs?
"So, we're hoping that it will prompt people to go 'Oh, I've got old glasses'."
Drop off centres include Specsavers at Stockland Nowra, St George Bank Nowra or Uniting Church Op Shop.
"Over the next year, we've set ourselves a challenge to collect 100 pairs of good quality glasses or sunglasses each month," Mr Gillen said.
"The more we can collect the better, because every pair of glasses will make a significant difference."
Old glasses can also be donated to any Lions Club centre, or can be sent online, or through your local post office.
