Acting Program Leader of Marine Operations, Nicole Strehling, said the Department of Primary Industries were looking for 12 members and alternates, who would provide a voice for local communities.
The committees are not decision-making bodies, Ms. Strehling said, but provide important local advice to the NSW Government, including local values, threats, issues and opportunities.
The nominees are expected to have developed skills are expertise in such areas as Aboriginal culture, recreational, spear and commercial fishing, recreational water use, recreational boating, marine science and conservation, and tourism.
The current committee for Jervis Bay Marine Park expired in August, and that nominations for new members will be open until September 22.
Membership is voluntary, and those appointed cannot be a member for more than four years.
Ms. Strehling encourages any local with relevant skills to apply.
Application forms are available the Department of Primary Industries website.
