Transport for NSW has closed a lane so the mountain slopes could be secured with tension mesh and bolts, in order to prevent rock slides.
Construction started on Sunday the 4th of August, and Senior Media Officer for Transport NSW, Morgan Clark, said the work was essential to reduce the severity of Moss Vale rock falls.
"Transport for NSW carries out routine inspections and assessments of Moss Vale Road including the slopes along Cambewarra Mountain to inform future maintenance and treatment work. Measures are in place to ensure the safety of workers and motorists, and motorists travelling through the area should follow the direction of signs and traffic control."
Transport NSW have said to add an additional 40 minutes travel time when driving through the area. While construction is on schedule, predicted wet weather and thunderstorms may cause delays.Currently, Transport NSW have expected the work to be finished by the 15th of September.
