Electrify our rail line
With the Berry to Bomaderry section of the highway getting well under way it is hoped that local MPs Shelley Hancock and Gareth Ward and Shoalhaven City Council get behind Union Shoalhaven members who have done all the heavy lifting in getting over 15,000 signatures for rail infrastructure for electrification of the built in the late 1890 rail line between Kiama and Bomaderry.

With billions spent in Sydney on rail public transport it is not a lot to ask for three stops of electrification. After all, the Premier stated she wanted more people to use public transport.

Medevac bill flawed
It's reported just four of the 111 asylum seekers brought to Australia from Manus and Nauru for urgent medical treatment under new evacuation laws were hospitalised upon arrival. Many never spent a night in hospital despite many of the transfers being granted under " medevac" laws.
We all are reminded of the emotional debate in parliament by Labor and the Independents and the hysteria when the medevac bill was passed.
All was revealed at the parliament's legal and constitutional committee hearing the system was flawed and being used by asylum seekers and their radical doctor supporters to gain access to Australia.
To all politicians that voted for the bill I say shame on you all for your stupidity but more shame on you for misleading the parliament, knowing the medvac bill was designed to deceive.
This has to be a new low for parliament as radical new parliamentary members via their own admissions admit they are aware of the actions of asylum seekers in self harming was designed to game the system.

Unworthy politics
Those councillors who seemingly are now members of the Gash/Watson unity ticket are a disgrace and have now proved themselves unworthy to be councillors of the City of Shoalhaven. The ringleaders have never forgiven Clr Findley for defeating them in the last mayoral election and have tried to make her term in office difficult, to say the least.
At the last local government elections the electors rejected Watson and Gash for the office of Mayor but that was too bitter a pill for them to take.
Cr Watson has been an alderman/councillor for over 40 years and Cr Gash has been a multi term Liberal member of parliament for Gilmore. A reasonable person may deduce meetings of Shoalhaven Council are fast becoming a political battleground with snide political point scoring becoming the norm. It would be sad to see this occur and should be rejected.

Tea Party treasuries
The NSW government is a non-taxing government. Treasury is a $100 billion investment company used for expenditure, salaries and wages included.
The aim of Cabinet is the conversion of all government services, hospitals, universities, public transport, public works (with federal government assistance) to full privatisation or corporate/government partnerships. A good example is the new hospital at Manly.
The Australian political scene is closely following the Tea Party policies of America where government growth and technology is determined by corporations and stock exchanges.
Instead of treasuries being a function for the good of the people business has taken over and treasuries are privately controlled investment companies, run for the express purpose of accumulating wealth, using taxpayer funds for capital.
A frightful thought is the fact without government control and regulation democracy and society will collapse and governments will be ineffectual.
