Instead, they channel their creative energy into making rugs, beanies, scarves, toys, slippers and booties, for people, particularly children, caught up in domestic violence situations.
On Wednesday, August 21, they made their annual donation to the YWCA NSW, which operates a domestic violence intervention service from the Nowra Police Station.
Children, when they come in for help, are allowed to pick a toy and a rug.
Audrey Gardyne founded the group in 2008, as an outlet for her passion for craft.
The group started with two or three members (there are currently 15) and occasionally donated blankets to the hospital.
Mrs Gardyne said when they heard there were people in need after fleeing domestic violence, they turned their attention to the cause.
She said the group hoped to let those in desperate situations know they were cared for.
"To provide some sort of comfort, as small as it is, so they know they're not cast aside and forgotten, that's why we do it," she said.
People who can't make things or don't have time, can help by making donations of yarn.
People can call Mrs Gardyne on 4446 0274 to make a donation or drop the donation to them on a Wednesday from 10am to 1pm at their base behind the Cambewarra Church 80 Main Road, Cambewarra.
The YWCA is grateful to the Cambewarra Craft Group for their beautiful handmade blankets, teddies, beanies and slippers.
