Miller, who claimed a silver medal at the School Sport Australia Track and Field Championships last year, started his strong campaign at the little athletics regional championships in February.
It was here the North Nowra Public School student, who suffers from multiple disabilities, such autism, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), intellectual disability, epilepsy, vision and hearing loss, claimed gold medals in the 11/12AWD (athletes with disabilities) boys discus, shot put, 100m and long jump.
The following month, Miller won the discus, shot put and 100m, in the same division, at the state titles.
These two meets acted as perfect preparation for the 11-year-old's national trials, where he finished first in discus and third in shot put - qualifying him for the Australian Championships at Darwin's Arafura Athletics Stadium from September 18-23.
"The gold medal in either discus or shot put would mean the world to me," Miller said.
"To be first in Australia would be amazing."
To prepare for his assault on these titles, Miller has been training between two to six hours a week with coaches Ron Cox and Jacki Peace at Ron Brown Sporting Complex at Shoalhaven High School.
"I'm quite confident my training this year (when possible due to my disabilities being more severe this year) can help me secure a gold medal," Miller said.
"In particular, my coaches have recently changed my discus throw due to my right leg not working properly and it seems to be paying dividends."
