Played at Merrylands High School, Sullivan and her side weren't intimidated by their more fancied opponents and dominated from the outset, running in four tries to two, to record a drought breaking 15-point victory.

"The girls and I trained hard leading up to the game, making sure we got all the basics right and put 100 per cent into everything we did," the former Ulladulla High student said.

"This was reflected in the match, as everyone played their roles.

"Personally, I played to the best of my ability and made sure to put in practice everything the coaches had taught me."

Sullivan admits the win was more satisfying because it'd been so long since they'd won the fixture.

"The girls and I were thrilled with the win," she said.

"I'm excited to say we won after 16 years and I'm proud of how all the girls came together and played.

"It really showed how hard we had worked in training and it had all paid off."

The Erindale College student admits this win means a lot for the future of rugby in the ACT

"I believe this will help girls rugby grow, especially in the ACT," she said.

"Hopefully we can get a few more girls involved with the sport."

The 16-year-old will now shift her attentions to the rugby sevens format, ahead of the upcoming season.
