RFS said it is understood the fire might have been the result of winds whipping up an extinguished pile burn.
Crews remained on the island for a number of hours to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
The dry weather the Shoalhaven is experiencing along with strong winds has proved to be a challenge for fire crews across the district over the past few weeks.
Crews battled a fire at Mundamia, west of Nowra, on Friday and at least six suspicious fires lit in the Culbura Beach and Orient Point areas on Saturday.
If anyone sees any suspicious activities they are urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
