A fire that broke out at Yalwal Road, Bamarang on Friday, August 16 is being controlled, fire authorities say. The blaze broke out shortly after 4pm on Friday, and has burnt out about 20ha. Crews from the Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue are controlling the blaze, which is still putting out large amounts of smoke affecting the South Nowra and West Nowra areas. It is understood there is no current threat to property. An RFS spokesperson said residents can expect to see smoke through the day, and asked people not to call 000 unless they spot a fire without a truck in attendance. The spokesperson said although no properties were under threat, it was a timely reminder for residents to make sure their bush fire plan is up to date.
