"Commonwealth Bank made $8.6 Billion profit last year ... but can't afford to keep Bomaderry ATM open," Member for Gilmore Fiona Phillips mused online.
State Member for Kiama Gareth Ward said banks had an obligation to provide a service.
"Customers are fed up with banks putting profits first - and people last," he said.
"This is a disappointing decision as this ATM closure will inconvenience many local Commonwealth Bank customers in Bomaderry and North Nowra, particularly our local seniors, many of whom will now be forced to cross the river into Nowra to make ATM withdrawals.
"My electorate office was contacted this afternoon by a local retiree who is 81 years old who will be inconvenienced by this decision. It is simply not good enough.
"This very poor decision taken by head office management in no way reflects upon the local Commonwealth Bank staff who work in the Nowra Branch."
A Commonwealth Bank spokesperson said the decision to close the ATM was made after a review, due to a decrease in ATM withdrawal volumes they attributed to the increased use of tap and go and online banking.
"Our customers can visit our recently refurbished Nowra branch which is 3.4km away and provides 24/7 lobby access to ATMs for deposits and withdrawals," the spokesperson said.
"Additionally customers can continue to deposit and withdraw cash from the Bomaderry Australia Post which is 150 metres away.
"Alternatively, EFTPOS allows customers to withdraw cash at participating supermarkets and service centres."
