James Richard Thomas, 33, pleaded guilty to high-range drink driving and driving while disqualified in Nowra Local Court on Monday, August 12 before Registrar Craig Cockburn.
Court papers said Thomas was caught in the car park of the North Nowra Tavern between 11.50pm on July 5 and 12.05am July 6.
Thomas was seen getting into a car in the car park which lunged forward, stopping just before it almost crashed into a brick wall.
The car then reversed out of the parking space and was driving the wrong way around the car park loop.
Police stopped the vehicle and subjected Thomas to a breath test which returned a positive result.
Police said he was moderately affected, his speech was slurred, he smelt of alcohol and was light on his feet.
A breath analysis later returned a breath reading more than three times the limit, 0.171.
Police also discovered he was a disqualified driver.
Thomas told police he had been drinking at the tavern and was only driving around the loop "waiting for a friend".
He will reappear in court in September.
