For the second weekend in a row officers from the newly established Bay and Basin Police Station have conducted an operation focussing on drivers in the central Shoalhaven.

In conjunction with the Traffic and Highway Patrol, the one-day operation monitored drivers in the Shoalhaven, Huskisson, Vincentia, Sanctuary Point, St Georges Basin, Tomerong, Wandandian and surrounding areas on Friday night.
Police randomly breath tested more than 135 drivers and randomly drug tested 54 drivers.
Two drivers were issued with on-the-spot license suspensions after they returned positive road-side breath tests and four drivers returned positive tests for drug use.
More than 40 drivers were issued with infringement notices for exceeding the speed limit and other traffic related matters.
Three vehicles were also issued on-the-spot defect notices.
Officers conducted a similar traffic operation the previous weekend and caught one man driving 53 kiloemtres over the speed limit.
The 26-year-old was issued with an infringement for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, fined $2,482 and incurred six demerit points, when allegedly detected in a Mitsubishi Triton travelling at 133km/h in a sign posted 80km/h area on Turpentine Road at Tomerong around 5.20pm.
His licence was suspended.
A 36-year-old man was also issued with an infringement for exceeding the speed limit by more than 30km/h, fined $920, and incurred five demerit points when he was detected in a Holden Commodore travelling at 115km/h in the posted 80km/h area also on Turpentine Road around 5pm.
During that 12-hour operation that also included Traffic and Highway Patrol Command officers, 62 random breath tests were conducted.
