Member for Kiama Gareth Ward said the NSW Office of Sport is partnering with councils across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven to hold a series of forums which will outline sporting priorities for the region.
"Sport and recreation is a central part of the South Coast lifestyle with local families some of the healthiest and most active in the State," Ward said.
"It's vital that our communities have access to safe and inclusive local community sports infrastructure.
"That's why it's extremely important for sporting organisations and all levels of government to work together to provide sports infrastructure that meet community needs and continues to keep our communities healthy, active and connected."
Member for South Coast Shelley Hancock said the Shoalhaven sport forum will feature presentations and discussion of future state and local government plans for sports infrastructure in the region.
"This will include an outline of how the government's sport infrastructure strategy will consider the needs of the Shoalhaven," Hancock said.
"It will also provide an overview of the Office of Sport's systems and programs to facilitate coordinated sport infrastructure planning between sporting organisations and all levels of government."
The Shoalhaven local government and sport forum will be held at th Nowra Showground on Wednesday, August 14 from 5.30-8.30pm.
