"Defence contines to investigate the full circumstances that led to the precautionary landing of an Australian Army MRH-90 aircraft," a defence spokesperson said.
"While this process is underway, the Australian Defence Force has ceased all MRH-90 flying pending further technical investigation and advice."
The aircraft conducted a precautionary landing on the Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) HMAS Adelaide after sustaining a tail rotor vibration en route to Brisbane Airport.
"The aircraft captain aborted the mission and returned to HMAS Adelaide for a precautionary landing," the spokesperson said.
"No personnel were injured during the incident."
Defence could not give a time frame as to when it was expected the aircraft would be cleared for operational activities.
Australia is spending $3.5 billion on 47 new MRH-90s - a multi-role helicopter used by both navy and army, replacing the retired Sea King and ageing Black Hawk fleets.
Navy operates six of the aircraft from the ADF pool, with a number embarked on various RAN ships.
The aircraft's home navy squadron is 808 at the Nowra based Fleet Air Arm station at HMAS Albatross, while the Australian Army operates A and B Squadrons of 5 Aviation Regiment (5Avn) at Townsville.
