The Meals on Wheels team has been successful in getting through to the community voting round of Service NSW My Community Project funding program.
Now they need your help to ensure they get the much needed funds to upgrade the current commercial setup.
The Bomaderry kitchen delivers 100 meals a day and manager Lisa Burns said they would love to increase this service.
"An upgrade to the Bomaderry kitchen would mean that we can offer clients a greater range of meals and choice," she said.
"We are constantly trying to improve the service we offer to our consumers and part of this involves updating the out of date commercial kitchen to continue the much-needed service in the community."
Meals on Wheels has already received funding for the walk-in freezer and refrigerated truck and this funding would enable Meals on Wheels to complete this project.
Lisa said it would benefit the community and the many volunteers who deliver the meals throughout the Kiama community.
All of the meals delivered by Meals on Wheels meet the National Meals Guidelines as set out in 2016.
Lisa said other kitchens that have been uprades in six regions across NSW has seen significant benefits.
"These meal distribution centres have enabled the local Meals on Wheels services to have increased control over food products offered to the consumers in terms of nutrition, variety and specialised meals such as vegetarian, low-salt and gluten free. The consumers will in turn have greater choice and affordable meals," she said.
We desperately need the community to get behind our much needed upgrade and valuable community service."
To vote for the Bomaderry Kitchen Upgrade you need to have a Service NSW account and your Medicare card to prove your identity and that you live in the Kiama electorate.
If you don't have a service first account you will need your Medicare card and date of birth to join service.nsw.gov.au.
Lisa encouraged everyone to vote before August 15.
