The signs feature a map with key locations, nearby facilities and amenities as well as information about their distance away.
Cr Joanna Gash said the idea for the signs came about through correspondence she'd received from a visitor.
"When I was mayor a lady wrote to me and said she got lost in the CBD, 'What were we going to do about it?'," she said.
"So the result is now we've got these signposts saying where you are and where you can go, making it a lot easier for people... it only took two years."
Both Crs White and Gash thought the signs were missing some information.
"I think we need to add a few extra pieces of information onto the signs but that will be built over time," Deputy Mayor Cr Patricia White said.

"We're wanting to open up the CBD and we want visitors to come here and if you want them to come here we have to show people where things are.
"I feel like now we're starting to become a new city."
Chairman of the Nowra CBD Revitalisation Committee James Caldwell said before more signs are built they're waiting for community feedback.
"We put them in the four most prominent places we thought of at this stage but certainly if we get good feedback I'm quite sure the committee will look at putting up more," he said.
The signs cost around $40,000 and were designed by council staff in consultation with outside parties.
