A new year and a new job in her chosen field meant it was time for Elizabeth Remnant to get rid of her "safety blanket" - but she needed a little extra motivation.

The 18-year-old's extra-long locks had been something to hide behind. But after finishing her early childhood qualifications and landing a job at Arwon's Little Angels, it was time for the chop.
However, Elizabeth needed something to push her into the hairdressers, and Variety Children's Charity gave her the last bit of ooomph.
The charity makes donated hair into wigs for children who have lost theirs due to long-term medical conditions.
"Hair always grows back, so it doesn't matter for me, but for someone with alopecia it will make a real difference," Elizabeth said.
"I'm not as nervous as I would be if it wasn't for a good cause, and I've raised close to $450, so I can't chicken out."
Elizabeth got the big snip at Urban Hair in Bomaderry.
