A Bomaderry man who pleaded guilty to high-range drink driving but couldn't tell police how many beers he had drunk has escaped a jail sentence, instead being placed on a community corrections order.

Aaron James Lazarus, 33, also pleaded guilty to being a suspended driver.
In Nowra Local Court, Magistrate Roger Clisdell placed Lazarus on an 18-month community corrections order, meaning he can serve his time within the community.
He has also been ordered to perform 100 hours of community service, was disqualified from driving for six months and ordered to have an interlock device fitted to his vehicle for two years.
He also pleaded guilty to driving while suspended, for which Magistrate Clisdell fined him $600.
Court papers said police noticed Lazarus, in a Rav 4 turning out of the Archer Hotel into Kalandar Street around 11.30pm on May 22 with no headlights on.
Police, who were travelling east at the time, continued to the roundabout at Wallace Street before returning to the hotel, at which point the car was seen speeding back up the driveway.
Police approached the vehicle which had been parked in the car park.
Court papers said Lazarus had turned the vehicle off and had taken the keys from the ignition.
Police said his eyes were bloodshot and watery and his speech was slurred.
He underwent a breath test and returned a reading more than three times the limit 0.162.
He told police he had consumed an unknown amount of beer.
