The Bomaderry High School alumna, who has one gold and three silver medals from five Commonwealth Games appearances, is joined by para-swimmer and OAM Matt Levy as co-chairs for the role - with both being passionate about the role the AAG can play in supporting the work of Commonwealth Games Australia.
"I'm very excited about working the some fantastic athletes from other sports along with the CGA," Murphy said.
Joining the duo on the CGA athlete advisory group are Dane Bird-Smith (athletics), Rachel Bugg (diving), Kaarle May McCulloch (cycling), Lauren Mitchell (gymnastics), David Palmer (squash), Shannon Parry (rugby sevens), Brooke Peris (hockey), Anja Stridsman (boxing) and Dan Wilson (triathlon).

An interim AAG was established by CGA in September 2017 to provide athlete input into the planning and strategies of the Gold Coast 2018 team.
Its tenure ceased following the Games, with a recommendation to the CGA Board that the AAG be formalised.
Nominations were called in September 2018 for membership of the group to serve through to the Birmingham Games.
Three-time Australian team Chef de Mission and CGA board member Steve Moneghetti will act as the conduit between the Athlete Advisory Group and the CGA Board.
