The event runs over six days, finishing up on Wednesday and aims to encourage families to fish together over the July School Holidays.
"The carnival has been successful with over 250 people registered," secretary of the Sussex Inlet Family Fishing Carnival Dale Cropper said.
"It brings much needed business to Sussex Inlet during the slowest of trade months of the year."
Although it's a competition you don't have be be the best Angler to win a prize with encouragement awards on offer as well as mystery weight fish.
And if you're feeling lucky there's still one more day left to snag one of the four tagged fish and take home the $5000.
