The hosts opened the match's scoring in the fourth minute, when an attack from within their own half saw Sam Burns break through.
The centre then drew Stingrays fullback Jayden Sargent before hitting Luke Ryder with an inside pass, who then put skipper Blake Dryden over the score under the black sticks.
Five-eighth Josh Ingold, in his 100th game for the club, slotted the conversion to make it 6-nil.
Four minutes later, the Magpies doubled their advantage when Joe Rogers and Lachie Nello combined to send Blygh Herron over - with Ingold's conversion making it 12-nil.
But Jayson Smith's men didn't have it all their own way, as the Rays hit back in the 12th minute, when a spread to the right edge saw Cameron Caruso score in the corner.
But milestone man Ingold ensured the lead remained at more than two converted tries, when he sliced through the line in the 28th minute - with the score moving to 18-4 after he converted his own four-pointer.
Ingold was once again heavily involved in the Magpies' fourth, providing the final offload to Charlie Parrish to score.
The five-eighth continued his perfect afternoon with the boot, to make it 24-4 after 31.
The final try of the half was score by the fleet of foot Billy Hayburn, who stepped his way through the line before reaching out with his left arm.
Ingold's boot made it 30-4 at the break.
After the resumption, the Rays appeared a different side, was they scored after just four minutes through Caruso, following a chip and chase by Sargent.
But that was as close as they got, as the Magpies scored their sixth try of the match in the 66th minute when James Milne dived over.
Ingold's boot stretched the lead to 28 points.
The Rays scored two late consolation tries in the final 12 minutes, through Joshua Simmons and Pat Woodley - one of which was converted by Sargent - to make the score at full-time 36-18 to the Magpies.
Looking ahead to round 14, the Magpies will be out to make it two wins on the trot when they host the Albion Park-Oak Flats at the Berry Showgrond on Saturday while the Rays entertain the Kiama Knights at Flinders Field on Sunday.
The other two matches on Sunday see the Warilla-Lake South Gorillas clash with the Gerringong Lions and Shellharbour lock horns with Nowra-Bomaderry - with the Jamberoo Superoos having the bye.
