Set to be the biggest of its kind on the South Coast, July 28 will sees the return of the Nowra Chilli and Chocolate Festival to Archer Racecourse
The event is set to be a fun-filled family day out with live entertainment and more than 90 stalls of only the best chilli and chocolate products.
Building on the excitement around the live cooking demonstration last year, the festival will see the return of popular celebrity and television chef, Jason Roberts, of Sydney's renown Bistro Moncur.
Joining him this year is Travin Dehoeldt, finalist in 2018's Patisserie of the Year competition, as well as Travin's father, Augustus, a culinary expert with more than 35 years' experience.
Another addition to this array of chefs will be Esti Garcia, a passionate and popular pâtissier and chocolatier, who will be demonstrating his chocolate expertise.
With a family focus in mind the festival will also be hosting a children's cooking class with Australia's 'Gluten Free Queen', Rowie Dillon.
Rowie will not only teach the children new cooking techniques, but they will be able to make lunch and take home a treat. All children attending the cooking class will receive a gift bag filled with lots of goodies. To join is $10 per child, with all proceeds going to the Westmead Children's Hospital.
Event founder and CEO Lynn Locke said she's excited about the new additions to the festival.
"As the festival continues to grow each year, and after last year's huge turnout, we were looking to diversify the type of events we have on offer, particularly for children and families," she said.
"We are excited to see such an amazing panel of chefs this year and we are sure they will be well received by all."
Kids will also love the jumping castle while the adults browse and sample the sugar, the spice and all things nice.
Live entertainment will be provided by the Con Artists, Wollongong Conservatorium's all ages community band made up of young, up and coming students, adult community musicians, and some of the region's most prominent folk musicians.
Topping off the day will be the return of the infamous chilli eating competition - the only one of its kind in the region, with some great prizes up for grabs.
"This year, those with a sweet tooth will not be left out with the launch of our inaugural 'Mouth of the South' chocolate eating competition, which will challenge the participants to tackle one kilogram of chocolate in the fastest time to win," Lynn said.
"We are hoping this means even more attendees can get involved in the fun events on the day."
Mr. Chilli will also be on hand to judge and award the coveted Best Chilli product and Best Chilli and Chocolate product on offer the day.
Entry for children under 16 is free, with adults $5 which includes an entry into a draw to win a range of different spicy and sweet products from the stalls.
Gates open at 9.30am and close at 3.30pm, with general and disabled parking available on site.
