Eugene James Cabang did not enter any pleas to possessing an unauthorised firearm and possessing a barrel for a firearm when he appeared before Magistrate Michael Stoddart via video link on Monday, July 8.

Court papers said the charges stem from between July 13 and August 19 last year when he allegedly had the barrel for a firearm at Worrigee.

Cabang was apprehended by members of the South Coast Northern Proactive Crime Team at Bankstown around 10.20am on July 4.

Court papers did not reveal where Cabang was originally from, only that his visa had expired.

He appeared before Magistrate Glenn Walsh in Bankstown Court on July 4 and had been granted bail but was unable to meet the bail conditions and was remanded in custody to the Villawood Immigration Detention Centre in Sydney.

He is due to reappear in court on July 12 via video link.
