The Nowra Athletics Club's cross country event, on Saturday July 6, was another muddy, slippery affair and this time was at the beautiful Hollyhill course but the addition of some pallets by the Havadjia family, thankfully afforded runners relief from the worst of the mud.

In the 1km Rowan Brignall was first home followed by Finn Goddard, who may or may not have taken a slightly wrong turn, then Isaac McCall, Eillish Debeck and Aiden McLaren.
The 2km division one had just two contenders Cameron Baxter who ran in first in 8:49 and Harry Thomson in second in 10.11.
In division two Mali Mustapic was first home followed by Ewen Debeck then Scott McLaren and Heidi McLaren.
In the 3km event Jade Mustapic was first across the line followed by younger sister Alisha Mustapic then Emily McLaren.
Next was Harrison Baxter who was fastest in 13:00 then Jett Goddard, Hamish McLaren, Anna Duncan, Oliver Baxter and Toby Dyball.
In division two Lucas Charalambous was the winner followed by Alison Havadjia , Jody Brignall, Lachlan Rabey, Harriet Urquhart and Liana Charalambous.
Medium course division one was won by Andrew Debeck, with Sabina Hamity running in second, followed by Lucas Johnson, Jasper Arnold, then Bradley Sawyers who was the quickest across this distance in 20.15, then Ella Dyball, Alexis Charalambous, Peter Dooley, and Ethan Havadjia.
Dean Bryce was first in division two followed by Casey Johnson, Phil Duncan, Angela Bond, Alastair Urquhart, Lucy Duncan and last, but certainly not least Paul Musgrove , who made his debut for the cross country season.
Division three was claimed by Geoff Crook in 29.52 followed by Gavin Urquhart then Andrew Havadjia, Angela Urquhart, Lisa Carroll, Alex Arnold, Di Court and John Price.
In long course the victory went to Lachlan Kaszonyi with second place going to Peter Khourey and third place going to Scott Johnson followed by Richard Bosdyk, Perry Strand, Mathew Schofield and Michael Duncan.
Meanwhile division two honours went to Wayne Williams followed by Alison Ritchie, Sue Strand and Milton Cox.
Hollyhill spoils the runners for views but certainly tests the stamina! We even had a parachutist drop in on the fun which was a great spectacle!
A huge thank you must go to the Havadjia family for donating the use of their property for cross country and for all the ongoing work to keep the course user-friendly despite the muddy conditions.
