The Nowra Bomaderry Jets Rugby League Football Club held its Indigenous round and before the Group Seven matches commenced a smoking ceremony was held.
Matthew Sims led the ceremony, following on from Darrell Farrell's Welcome to Country.
No matter the colour of your skin or cultural background everyone was invited to walk through the smoke and embrace its significance.
"Our culture is a culture of sharing and has been since the beginning of time - please join us," Matthew said.
He called everyone to join the ceremony as a sign of unity and reconciliation.
The ceremony acknowledged all those who walked the land before us.
"I would also like to acknowledge all the elders that walked before me and made it possible for me to practice my culture," Matthew said.
"We are the holders of the oldest living culture in the world and we continue to make it stronger for everyone."
