First up for Scott Balsar's Cubs was a Waratah League clash with the Bankstown Bruins on Saturday.
The two sides traded baskets in the opening quarter, before the hosts charged out to a six-point lead (20-14) at quarter-time.
The second quarter followed in the same vein, as the two sides exchanged runs - which ultimately saw the Bruins go into half-time up 44-34.
That 10-point lead quickly ballooned to 15 midway through the third term, which forced Balsar into a time-out.
It proved a masterstroke, as the Tigers ended the period on a 5-0 run, to trial 62-52 going into the last.
This 10-point buffer remained between the two sides until there was 5.01 left on the game clock.
That's when the Tigers pounced.
Behind a three-pointer by Gavin Costain, the Tigers drew level (76-all) with 39 seconds left on the clock.
Then a clutch free-throw by Costain, with 21 seconds left, gave the Tigers their first lead since the 8.19 mark in the first quarter.
Holding a one-point lead, the Tigers courageously defended like their lives depended on it, to win 77-76.
"The bench started our fightback in the third quarter, laying a strong platform for our starters to get us home," Balsar said.
"Down the stretch, we kept our turnovers to a minimum while pushing the pace and capitalising on the break.
"The the way the boys held their nerve, didn't foul and forced the Bruins into a contested shot was amazing - this was our most courageous win of the season."
In the win, skipper Riley O'Shannessy led the way with 21 points, as Costain and Kyle Leslie both finished with 16.
Following this comeback win, the Cubs headed north to face the first-placed Central Coast Crusaders on Sunday.
The black and golds struggled out of the gates, to trial 20-9 after one-quarter.
Despite their best defensive efforts, the Tigers couldn't stem the Crusaders scoring in the second, as the hosts ran out to a 45-27 lead at the main break.
The effects of Saturday's big win were showing on the Tigers, as they fell behind by 36 points by three-quarter-time.
Unfortunately, the game had to be called off during the fourth quarter as Cub Lachlan Armstrong suffered a knee injury - seeing the match end at 75-41.
Costain and Jeremy Harding both top scored for the Tigers with 12.
These two results sees the Cubs (8-9) remain in seventh spot, just one win behind Penrith (9-7) and Illawarra (9-7) - with Balsar's troops hosting the latter this Saturday as part of the club's Indigenous round.
