The group meets the second Tuesday of each month at the PCYC, and everyone is welcome.
Barry shares his lifelong love of birds ahead of the meeting.
"I have always had an interest in birds, starting right back in the early 1970's when I would rescue the odd Rosella or Galah on the farm and kept them in old makeshift cages. Fifty years ago everything was different," he said.
"It wasn't until the mid-1980's after I acquired some second hand aviaries that my interest turned into an obsession.
"I have been fortunate to keep all (allowed in Queensland), but a few of the Australian species.
"Over the years, concentrating on the keeping and breeding pure and true to type species and sub-species of all Australian parrots and cockatoos has been ,and still is, my number one aim.
"Applying a common sense approach to bird keeping, and creating the right environment we have successfully breed all of the cockatoos and parrots we keep.
"There is always something to learn about breeding and keeping techniques and I believe success comes from perseverance, trial and error. Through necessity of saving abandoned eggs/chicks we have learnt to incubate and hand rear.
"Perfecting techniques in incubating and hand rearing many different species has resulted in numerous young birds. My childhood interest has now grown into a very rewarding passion."
