QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer - the three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.
Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognise the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade and refer (QPR) someone to help.
Lifeline South Coast will be delivering this QPR suicide awareness session face-to-face in the Shoalhaven on Wednesday, October 9 at St Georges Basin Country Club from 5.30pm to 9.30pm.
Thanks to ClubGRANTS and St Georges Basin Country Club, the course will be free for all participants.
The QPR training course will provide you with knowledge and skills to identify warning signs that someone may be suicidal, confidence to talk to them about suicidal thoughts, and how to connect them with professional care.
Lifeline is out to enable people to be a #LifelineQPRgatekeeper. Gatekeepers are people who are likely to come into contact with people at risk of suicide.
According to Lifeline, we lose eight people to suicide every day. Six of them are men.
