Named in honour of long-time SBA stalwart John Martin, the tournament runs across all junior age groups with divisions from development through to premier.
SBA had seven teams hitting the courts in Bathurst, Maitland, Newcastle, Illawarra and on the Central Coast.
Playing at Berkeley, the U18 Boys finished top of their pool after a convincing win against Orange which set up a semi-final berth against Goulburn.
The Bears came out roaring and clawed their way to victory ending the boys' campaign and for many, their junior rep careers.
The U16 Girls found plenty of tough competition at Gosford and were unlucky to miss out on the needed 4th to set up a semi final.
Needing to finish first or second in their pool in Newcastle, the U16 Boys also just missed out on a semi.
Two convincing wins in their pool games demonstrated the strength that has carried them through Spalding Waratah Junior League, Steel City Challenge and now into Conference basketball.
The U14 Girls started well in Bathurst, coming to within four points of their first victory for the season against Lithgow. But it wasn't to be and a semi-final berth eluded them.
The spectacular growth in basketball in Shoalhaven is most noticeable in the U14 Boys age group, where Shoalhaven was able to send both a Division 2 and a Division 3 team to Terrigal.
The Div 2 team had to finish first or second in their pool and with only one win under their belt couldn't close the deal against Illawarra to take second place.
The Div 3 boys were full of inexperience, but loaded with enthusiasm as they took to the court.
A great introduction for many of the players, who now have the Country experience to inform coaching staff for the Barrengarry Conference season that has just kicked off for this team.
The U12 Girls continue to stake their claim for SBA's team of the year with a convincing win over the Illawarra Hawks in the semi-finals to set them up for a final against Goulburn up at Maitland.
With the game going into overtime the Tiger cubs couldn't hold on and Goulburn eventually ran out winners 14-11.
The U12 Boys went through their pool games undefeated, but came under the spell of Moss Vale Magic where they were undone by the crossover semi-final.
There will be plenty of opportunity to avenge their semi-final loss at the Snakepit when they meet up again this weekend in Moss Vale for Round 2 of Barrengarry Conference.
John Martin has been widely recognised for a lifetime of excellence, teaching, and skill for his contributions to basketball in Australia.
