An Albion Park man who pleaded guilty to high range drink driving has escaped a jail sentence, instead being placed on a community corrections order.

Court papers said when Shai Michael Elliott, 22, was pulled over by police in Cox Avenue, Nowra around 2am on December 23 last year he returned a breath reading of 0.177, more than three times the limit.
In Nowra Local Court Magistrate Gabriel Fleming placed Elliott on a 12-month community corrections order, meaning he can serve his sentence in the community rather than behind bars.
She also disqualified him from driving for 10 months and ordered he have an interlock device fitted to his car for four years.
