The Happy Sounds singing group has been meeting each Friday morning at the Senior Citizens Centre, Nowra, since early 2018.
It's a group to provide music, socialisation, friendship and morning tea for any isolated seniors in the area.
Groups from various aged care units join in regularly, along with a solid core of regulars who have made new friendships and gained confidence in this positive environment.
Everyone is welcome this Friday at the Senior Citizens Centre, Berry Street, Nowra (just up the laneway near the Roxy Theatre) between 10:30am and noon.
The group will be showing off their favourite songs, such as Some Enchanted Evening, A White Sport Coat, and How Much is that Doggie in the Window, from the large print song books made especially for seniors who love to song songs from the 60s through to the 80s.
Recently the music director who has led in playing the keyboard and singing, has been unwell.
While the group has had fun with some volunteer musicians and in using Spotify to play songs to sing to, they need a part-time musical director to keep them moving and growing.
It's a paid position for an experienced and positive player/singer to join the several volunteers each week, providing song and laughter to the gathering.
It is a rewarding experience, seeing seniors, some of whom suffer from dementia and are accompanied by their carers, enjoying their time each Friday.
Prospective directors, and of course attendees, can ring Judy on 0412 219 895 for more information.
