The Knights and Superoos played an 11-all draw in the season's opening round, and for a time it looked like the stalemate would remain, however a hat-trick of tries to former Knight Corey Grigg early in the second half booted the Superoos well clear and they were able to maintain their dominance to record a strong win.
The game was a real arm-wrestle in the opening 20 minutes, with the Knights going close through prop Luke Chalker, while Jamberoo winger Ben Barnard was sin-binned for a professional foul on his opposite number Matt Morris.
It was the home side who were able to open the scoring in the 20th minute when a rampaging Kyle Stone crossed off a Mark Asquith inside pass and fullback Dean Watling converted for 6-nil.
The defence from both teams was brutal and really took it's toll on the players, and just when it looked like Jamberoo would take their lead to the break, classy Kiama half Cam Vazzoler ran the ball on the final tackle and darted between two defenders to cross under the posts and converted to tie the scores up a 6-all at the break.
Games are sometimes turned on their heads by one piece of individual brilliance, and that was the case just five minutes after the break.
With the Knights looking dangerous and right on the attack, Vazzoler placed a perfectly weighted grubber-kick toward the Jamberoo goalposts only to see Dean Watling read the play perfectly, scooped up the ball and race 75 metres before he was eventually dragged down by his opposite number Tom Atkins.
Two plays later the Superoos spread the ball wide and Jono Dallas sent Grigg diving over.
This play changed the tone of the game in the Superoos favour and within seven minutes Grigg forced his way over from dummy-half and they found space on the left to notch his hat-trick and despite Watling missing each conversion, the game was well-and-truly in Jamberoo's favour at 18-6.
Big winger Steve Bouchard was unlucky to miss out after a tremendous charge only for the referees ruling he had been held up, but the game was well-and-truly put to bed seven minutes from time when Mark Asquith scored a typical try when he dummied his way over and Watling converted to wrap up the 24-6 win.
In a whole-hearted team effort, prop Brendan Smith was awarded the official Group Seven Player of the Round, while Grigg, Dallas, Luke Asquith, Kyle Stone and Watling has great games, while Chalker, Kieran Poole, Toby Nobes and the returning Daniel Martin were probably the Knights best.
