The clubs provide opportunities for people to learn and grow in public speaking, whether it is for work or personal reasons.
You may have to present a speech at work or give a toast at a friend's wedding, or just want to work on communicating skills. Many people join for various reasons not only to learn to speak but also learn fundamental leadership skills.
The clubs were represented by presidents, Linda McLeod (Shoalhaven City) and Kylie Rayner (Nowra) who work closely together to engage with the community about what Toastmasters is about and what joining can do for you in your personal or professional life.
Michael Fenton, Southern Division Acting Area 30 Director and Kathryn McClelland, media officer also joined in to help promote both clubs. Linda and Kylie spoke to many people on the day, including past members of the Nowra Club.
Membership growth is an important part of Toastmasters, however both Linda and Kylie acknowledge that it is not just about growth but maintaining and growing of current members to see them achieve their goals.
"It is exciting to see members grow and build on their skills and confidence while making friendships along the way," Kylie said.
"We thank Nowra Stockland for the space to meet and greet the community. It is a wonderful service provided for community groups to promote their groups."
Nowra Toastmasters meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Shoalhaven Ex Servicemen's Sports Club in Worrigee from 7.30-9.30pm.
