Despite sitting in first place in their Waratah League pool, Ian Ozolins' Tigers started slowly and trialled 18-16 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter wasn't any better, as the hosts fell behind by as many as 10 points during the term before closing the margin, to be only down by five at the main break.
Whatever Ozolins said to his troops at the interval seemed to work, as the Tigers came out with a lot more intensity, especially on the defensive end, to lead 45-43 after three.
Just when the black and golds appeared set to go on with the win, the Yowies fought back to level the scores with 92 seconds to play.
In the final minute, Tim Hanlon missed two free throws before Alex Brown missed one - with the latter thankfully hitting his second from the line, to put the Tigers up by one with 10 seconds to go.
In the final play of the game, the Yowies failed to score, securing the Tigers thrilling 60-59 win - their ninth of the season.
In the victory, William Ozolins top scored with 19 points, as Brown and Dane Jensen chipped in 16 and nine respectively.
The black and golds now have the June long weekend off before hosting the Bankstown Bruins, who are sixth with a 5-6 record on the season, on Saturday, June 15 from 6pm.
