There is plenty to see at the Shoalhaven Regional Gallery this winter, with a full program of local and travelling exhibitions encompassing a wide range of materials and ideas on display from June 8 to July 27.
Five textile artists have taken a journey Off the Beaten Track. The artists - Donna Caffrey, Margaret Gollan, Prue Hill, Linda Taglieri and Diana Thomas, have explored the theme through space travel and metaphysics to memories of adventures in distant lands, literature, magical design and the repetition of everyday life. Work practices include embroidery, weaving, 3D works, quilt making, collage and felting.
If you want to learn more about this exhibition, join the artists for a panel discussion on Saturday, June 8 from 11am, which will be followed by the official exhibition launch from noon.
Franc Hancock's The Forest is a visually stunning installation of two metre tall, freestanding Sumi ink and paper tubes. This exhibition highlights Hancock's concerns regarding deforestation and creates a moving memorial to the lost Great Forests of the planet.
Local artist Penny Lovelock shows her beautiful lyrical works in Unspoken Words. This series of figurative paintings and drawings explore an emotional response to the female form and the landscape. An imagined narrative is entwined in the landscape as the imaginary joins reality in this quirky, illustrative exhibition.

The theme 'vital connections' highlights the importance of people and connections in personal recoveries.
On June 22 you can join local artist and educator Jim Birkett to investigate the potential of sculptural paper surfaces. Join Jim to experience a different approach to art making - working in the round. Using varied materials you will add to your sculptural paper through drawing and painting.
On July 27 you can learn from Linda Taglieri as she leads you through techniques of Elizabethan pattern embroidery. You will work on decorative bands you can add to placemats, tea towels, bags or anything else you can think of.
