Fire crews were unable to save a house in Kangaroo Valley that was "engulfed by fire", a Shoalhaven Rural Fire Service spokesperson has said.

The spokesperson said crews arrived on Moss Vale Road, in the center of the village at about 6.40pm on Sunday, May 26. They found the house fully alight. No one was in the building.
Three trucks attended, and crews were able to protect neighbouring houses from embers.
The cause of the fire remains unknown at this stage. The spokesperson said a fire investigation crew was on site at 9.30am on Monday, May 27.
