Fitzgibbons and the rest of the women's field blitzed through the two-to-four foot (0.6 - 1.2 metre) waves at Keramas and will now await the anticipated weekend swell for final series.
The South Coast product booked her spot in the final eight after a strong win against Hawaii's Coco Ho.
Fitzgibbons produced waves of 6.20 and 5.83, for a combined 12.03, with Ho only managing a score of 9.77 ( 6.27 and 3.50).
Awaiting for her in the quarter-finals is Brazil's Silvana Lima, who edged out United States' Caroline Marks in the round of 16.
In other surfing news, Culburra Beach brothers Owen and Mikey Wright are still alive in the men's competition at Bali, with them scheduled to battle US' Kelly Slater and Australian Adrian Buchan in round three respectively.
