The event will be held on Friday, May 24 at the Bomaderry Bowling Club and is a fun way to bring people together and raise funds for suicide prevention work in the Shoalhaven.
The most affable Kez Thompson will be the event's master of ceremonies.
Chair of the Shoalhaven Suicide Prevention and Awareness Network Chair, Bruce Murphy, said the event would help support SSPAN's work in the Shoalhaven.
"The annual SSPAN trivia night is a fantastic way for people to show their support for suicide prevention work in our region," he said.
"Kez Thompson, who worked for many years as a paramedic and now works in the ambulance control room, has first-hand experience of the effect that suicide has in our community.
"As well as this experience Kez is also an engaging emcee with loads of public speaking skills."
Suicide remains the leading cause of death for Australians under the age of 44 years.
Every day, we lose seven people to suicide and estimates suggest up to 180 people attempt to end their life.
"Suicide is a significant concern for the Shoalhaven community," Mr Murphy said.
"However, we can all help to turn that around - ask your friends and family if they are ok, know what to do if they say no and complete some suicide first aid training to help recognise the signs of suicide.
"Everyone can play a part in reducing suicide in the Shoalhaven and the SSPAN trivia night is a very easy way to help."
SSPAN is a network of representatives from the Shoalhaven community, government and non-government organisations.
SSPAN works closely with the community to raise awareness of suicide; promote recovery from mental illness, and build individual and community resilience with the aim of reducing the impact of suicide in the Shoalhaven.
The event is on Friday, May 24 at the Bomaderry Bowling Club from 6.30pm.
Tickets are just $15 for adults ($2 for children 4-12) and are available from Aquatique Junction Street and via the SSPAN website at www.sspan.org.au.
So why not get your mates together, buy a table of 10 tickets and join in the fun. Some great prizes are available on the night.
All proceeds will go towards SSPAN suicide prevention strategies in the Shoalhaven region.
