At the Tigers Den, Glen Mustapic's side were slow out of the blocks and trialled 23-11 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second term, the black and gold traded hoops with the Blaze, to go into the main break down by 13 points.
Knowing they needed a strong start, the Tigers rattled off a couple of quick baskets to reduce the margin to nine points midway through the term.
But Mustapic's side couldn't maintain their pressure, going into three quarter-time down 51-34.
In the final period, the Tigers battled hard and never gave up, to only go down by 13 points at the final buzzer.
In the loss, their second of the Waratah League season, the Tigers were led by Georgia Joseph (11 points) and Chelsea Hogg (eight).
Next up for the Tigers is a clash with Coffs Harbour on Saturday, May 11 at Minto.
